2023 Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Seminar Host Country Sponsor

The Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Seminar is honored to announce the Republic of Korea has joined as the Seminar’s first-ever Host Country Sponsorship in its 40+ years of existence.  The Republic of Korea has long been a leader in research, development, and deployment of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, with many companies, universities, and organizations presenting innovative advancements and products at the Seminar over the years. 

H2Korea, the hydrogen industry association for Korea, is coordinating this sponsorship, bringing together Korean government agencies, companies, and institutions to amplify its presence at the Seminar and showcase the country’s commitment to advancing hydrogen and fuel cells.  This includes a large Korean Pavilion in the Exhibit Hall, keynote presentations during the morning plenaries, and a special roundtable.

Hyundai Motor Company is a South Korean global automotive manufacturer with 120,000 employees worldwide. As the world’s first company to mass-produce fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), Hyundai Motor Company is moving forward with a detailed road map toward its vision of a society in which hydrogen energy has been widely adopted.  We are planning to incorporate hydrogen fuel cells into our entire lineup of commercial vehicles.

 

The Korea H2 Business Summit is an association jointly established by CEOs of companies representing the nation as South Korea’s Hydrogen Council both domestically and internationally. The CEOs of the 3 co-chair companies (Hyundai Motor, SK, and POSCO), have declared and presented strong intentions to achieve the roles that the association must play, which is to become a platform that provides directions to the hydrogen economy regardless of public and private affiliations, to create a hydrogen fund at the association level to rapidly vitalize the hydrogen economy and to host an arena for collaboration and unity within companies. It continues expanding, with currently 17 member companies (as of December 2022) each leading a part in the South Korean hydrogen value chain.

 

Korea Zinc is a global non-ferrous metal smelting company that has served as a foundation for the growth of Korea's basic material industry. Through ceaseless technological developments and facility investments, it is now the world's best eco-friendly comprehensive non-ferrous metal smelting company, producing a total of 1.2 million tons of 16 types of non-ferrous metals including zinc as well as rare metals such as lead, gold, silver, copper, and indium. Korea Zinc is preparing for the second leap to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024.

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Corporation) is a state-funded trade and investment promotion organization operated by the Government of South Korea. KOTRA was established in 1962 as a national trade promotion organization.

 

MiCoPower is a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system company in South Korea that provides eco-friendly hydrogen energy solutions for a net zero-carbon society. We have released and certified commercially 2 kW and 8 kW systems for various applications. The development of a 150 kW system also has been continued for clean distributed powers. All fabrication processes for SOFCs including materials, cells, stacks, and systems also have been set up in MiCoPower.

 

Since the foundation of SK E&S as a city gas holdings company in 1999, it has grown as the No. 1 private Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) company in Korea by successfully expanding the LNG value chain across the globe. SK E&S is the only company in Korea that can closely align and make synergy with blue hydrogen, renewable energy, energy solutions, and LNG businesses. It continues to grow as a global major green energy company by entering the hydrogen industry, which is one of the next-generation energy sources, and building a green portfolio including renewable energy, energy solution, and low-carbon LNG.
